Xiaomi Redmi 2 can be yours for just Rs. 5,999 in India
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is now available in India for just Rs. 5,999 ($94). The company announced the price reduction on the official community forum, teasing that the Redmi 2 Pro may be arriving soon. If you've been holding off on purchasing a new smartphone and want to pick up a bargain, the now more affordable Redmi 2 may well be an option for you to check out.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 2 in the region back in March, alongside the Mi Pad. For the Redmi 2, we're looking at a 4.7-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, microSD card slot, 8MP camera, 2MP front shooter, 3G connectivity and a 2,200mAh battery.
As touched on above, the Redmi 2 price reduction is in effect at the official Mi store, Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and other participating retailers. The official Redmi Facebook page is also holding a small contest where they will hand out a dark grey Redmi 2 to a lucky commenter. All you need to do is tell them why you want the smartphone by July 12.
