WhatsApp launches Android beta program on Google Play Store
After years releasing early builds to its mobile site as APKs, WhatsApp has brought its beta program to the Play Store. The Facebook-owned company regularly updates its Android app with new features, often to the early adopters who look forward to the latest "nightly build" of the popular messenger app.
The latest version, 2.12.469, doesn't appear to have any major changes since the last significant WhatsApp update earlier this month, which added over 100 new emoji and official support for Google Drive backup.
Joining the WhatsApp Beta is easy:
- Head to the official Google Play Store beta listing for WhatsApp
- Tap on "Become a Tester" while logged into your Gmail account
- Head to the Google Play Store and update WhatsApp
