Super Meat Boy Forever to make a mark on mobile devices in 2015
Super Meat Boy Forever, an all new game in the critically acclaimed indie platformer series, was announced this week for smartphones, tablets, and Windows for a release sometime in 2015.
The original Super Meat Boy was released for the Xbox 360 and Windows in 2010 and later for the Mac and Linux platforms. The game has the player controlling a sentient piece of raw meat through a series of highly challenging platformer levels. The game got great reviews and has sold over a million copies since its launch.
The two man team behind Super Meat Boy, Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, announced and showed off a playable version of the new Super Meat Boy Forever at PAX Prime in Seattle on Friday. In a blog post, McMillen stated that Super Meat Boy Forever is not a port of the original Super Meat Boy for mobile devices but an all new game. He wrote:
He added the new game will have six chapters and double the bosses compared to the original Super Meat Boy, along with a "full fledged dark world featuring dark warp zones, bosses, new playable indie game characters and more." It will also have a randomly generated level feature. One thing the game is not is an "endless runner" but McMillen said Super Meat Boy Forever will have an "endless mode" with daily runs and online high scores.
