Samsung claims 40 million Galaxy S4s have been sold since launch

Samsung CEO JK Shin has stated that his company has sold a whopping 40 million Galaxy S4's since the device's launch earlier this year. Following up on the report of 20 million sales in just two months since launch, hitting the 40 million mark is nothing to sneeze at in just three more months.

Its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, sold 30 million units in its launch year of 2012, which in itself was an extreme feat compared to a single smart phone from any manufacturer. Naturally Samsung is going to outdo itself, and at this rate the Galaxy S4 will be poised to pass the 50 million mark by the end of the year — especially considering the holiday shopping season ahead.
