Motorola Edge 'Lite' reportedly on its way with Snapdragon 765, 48MP camera
What you need to know
- Motorola is working on a 'Lite' version of its premium Edge smartphone.
- The Motorola Edge Lite 5G will reportedly feature a 6.7-inch 90Hz display and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765 chipset.
- Similar to the Edge+, the Edge Lite 5G will be available through Verizon in the U.S.
After returning to the flagship smartphone space with the Edge+, Motorola is now said to be working on an affordable mid-range 5G phone to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and the upcoming Google Pixel 5. Detailed specs of the upcoming phone, expected to be called the Edge Lite 5G, have now surfaced online.
The Motorola Edge Lite 5G will apparently have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and dual hole-punch cutouts. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.
On the back of the phone will be a quad-camera array featuring a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP sensor, an 8MP sensor, and a 5MP sensor. For selfies, the phone will have an 8MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. In terms of battery life, the Motorola Edge Lite 5G is expected to be slightly more impressive than the Edge. While the Motorola Edge packs a 4,500mAh battery, the Edge Lite is expected to come with a 4,800mAh cell. It is said to be rated for up to 20W wired charging speeds, but is likely to ship with an 18W TurboPower charger in the box.
As per XDA Developers, Motorola is working on two models of the Edge Lite: XT2075-1 and XT2075-3. While the former will be headed to Verizon in the U.S., the latter is intended for international markets, including Europe, Japan, Latin America, and the Middle East. What isn't clear at this point, however, is if the Verizon model will have mmWave 5G support.
