HTC ChaCha launches in the UK, CPU quietly bumped to 800MHz
The ChaCha, one of HTC's new Facebook phones, has launched in the UK, with SIM-free prices hovering around £250 (~$400). Currently Three is the only British network offering subsidized ChaChas, which are free on 24-month contracts of £20 or more per month.
Interestingly, it seems the ChaCha has been given a last-minute bump in CPU speed, from 600 to 800MHz. This puts it on par with the Desire Z/T-Mobile G2 in terms of raw performance, making it a more attractive proposition for fans of this sort of form factor. We got to play with the ChaCha at HTC's recent roadshow, and although the unit we saw wasn't running final software, we were impressed with the design and build quality, particularly on the keyboard.
