What you need to know
- Google is bringing 117 new emoji to Android this fall, including loads of cute animals.
- These emoji will come to Android this fall with the launch of Android 11.
- Google is also bringing a new quick access bar for emoji to Gboard.
It's World Emoji Day tomorrow, and Google is sharing some of its Emoji plans for Android. The company will be releasing the next batch of emoji with Android 11, totaling 117.
The new emoji add more diversity in expressions, relationships, and family makeups. There are also cute new animals, magic wands, and new foods like bubble tea and hot tamales. Emoji are all about expression, so the more variety, the better.
At the same time, Google is also making it easy to access your emoji with a quick access emoji bar. You can already find emoji by searching for them, but this removes that step.
Android 11 is currently being beta tested, though you probably don't have much longer to wait. As for the Gboard feature, that's rolling out now for beta users with general availability slated for the coming months.
Gboard
Gboard is an already excellent keyboard app. If you're a regular emoji user, this update will make tapping them out easier for you.
