Google officially launches the Chromecast in India, available from December 10
Google today announced that Chromecast will shortly be available in India, with the company's own Play Store, local carrier Airtel and India e-commerce site Snapdeal offering the HDMI dongle from tomorrow. Pricing for the Chromecast will set local buyers back by Rs 2,999 ($50).
The company made the announcement at the commencement of the Great Online Shopping Festival, and while the pricing is a minor jump from what the Americas have to part with, consumers will at least be able to pick up the HDMI dongle. As part of the launch, Airtel will offer 60 gigabytes of free data over three months on broadband plans.
Every year, Google collaborates with offline and online retailers to provide lucrative deals to users in the country, and this year's GOSF aims to take things to the next level, with all major e-commerce stores participating. We'll be highlighting the noteworthy deals from the sale over the course of the next three days.
Let us know if you'll be picking the Chromecast up in the comments.
