What you need to know
- As of May 4, Google is now rolling out the May 2020 security patch.
- It's available for the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4 family of devices.
- Factory images and OTA files are available now.
It's May 4, which along with being Monday, also means it's Star Wars Day. While you're watching all of the movies, Google has another treat for you — the May 2020 security patch!
Factory images and OTA files are available now if you want to manually load it onto your device, or you can just wait for the over-the-air update to hit your phone. Similar to the past couple of updates, this one is rolling out to the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4 lineup of devices.
Looking through this month's bulletin, nothing particularly exciting jumps out. You'll find the usual bug and vulnerability fixes, but that's about it.
New and noteworthy features are now divvied out via Pixel Feature Drops, with these monthly security patches now just being used to keep our phones as secure as possible.
If you want to check and see if the update is available for your phone, you can check by going to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> System update.
