Dopod China has its sight set on bringing the current G1 to China as early as first quarter 2009. Dopod is a partner of HTC who sells selected HTC phones to the Chinese market under their own name and Dopod brand.
Obviously, Dopod will have to re-tool the T-Mobile G1 to better fit China's needs, such as either using a TD-SCDMA chip for 3G access or doing without 3G entirely and using EDGE only. It'll likely launch on China Mobile though Dopod is still in talks.
It's good to see the rest of the world get into the Android craze isn't it?
