Motorola's smartphone offerings offer great value, be it its flagship Razr series or budget G series. Compared to the competition, nearly all of its phones pack in a few features that are well above their price segment. Whether it's extreme waterproofing like an IP69 rating, fantastic cameras like in the new Motorola Razr 2026 series, or a really fluid display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Motorola offers it all.

Our best overall pick is the Motorola Edge 2026. Sure, it's one of the best Edge series phones Motorola has built in recent years, even when you take its price increase into account. Of course, there are plenty of other options if the Edge 2026 doesn't work for you, so keep reading to see all of our favorite Motorola picks.

And with Prime Day just around the corner, we expect plenty of these phones ot be on sale, making it a great time to snag that Moto phone you've been eyeing, especially the foldables.

+

+
Excellent battery life and fast 60W charging
+
Great camera performance

Reasons to avoid

-
Only 2 OS updates are promised
-
Some camera oversharpening
-
Display doesn't get as bright as advertised

Motorola hasn't put its best foot forward when it comes ot the Edge series, but the Edge 2026 is a step in the right direction. It's not a flagship by any means, but it definitely looks and acts like one. The MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 8GB of RAM bring surprisingly solid performance, and there's an elegant vegal leather design in a phone that's both shorter and thinner than its predecessor.

Camera performance is better than expected, too, with great dynamic range and color science, although oversharpening and a faulty macro mode can be a bit of a problem. As for the display, it's as good as we expect from a Motorola phone: a bright OLED with great color reproduction and comfortable on the eyes, though don't expect it to get as bright as advertised.

The Edge 2026 also comes with a clean Android 16 build, and bloatware is essentially non-existent. Moto AI is here, sporting some useful features that you may or may not like, along with Google AI features you can find with Gemini or Google Photos. Unfortunately, Motorola is only offering two OS upgrades and three years of software updates, which feels below industry standard at this (price) point.

+

Motorola's software update record is not stellar

Same chipset
-
Looks like any other Moto G phone
-
$100 more expensive than predecessor

Like its predecessor, the Moto G Stylus 2026 makes a strong case for why you might want to consider a mid-range phone over a flagship. The Snapdragon chipset proves powerful enough to handle daily tasks with ease, while the design feels modern and fresh, thanks to the vegan leather materials and vibrant purple color option. But unlike the previous Moto G Stylus, this one has some new flagship tricks up its sleeve.

The Moto G Stylus 2026 now comes with a built-in active stylus pen, unlike previous versions of the phone, which all came with passive styli. This means it acts more like the stylus found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra; it supports tilt detection and various levels of pressure for more precise note-taking and drawing. It's also much more responsive than before, and Motorola has included a suite of features to take advantage of.

But beyond the stylus, there's a larger battery, fast charging, and a pretty vibrant, sharp OLED display.

So what's the downside? Well, despite costing $100 more than its predecessor at launch, the Moto G Stylus 2026 uses the same chipset and even has less base storage. The software update promise also leaves a lot to be desired, as you'll only receive two OS updates.

If you’re looking for a simple 5G phone that gets the job done, the new Moto G 2026 is worth a look with a large 6.7-inch HD+ display and 120Hz refresh rate. The display sits beneath a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3, giving it protection from minor drops. It even has a fingerprint reader on the side, making it quick to unlock your phone without sacrificing security.

It’s powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 6300 SoC with 4GB of RAM, which isn’t great for 3D gaming but is reasonably fast for basic messaging apps, social media, video calling, and taking photos.

Charging is relatively quick at 30W, and you have a large 5,200mAh battery that's sure to last multiple days. The rear camera has a 50MP sensor that can take decent enough photos in enough light, but won’t blow you away. At this price, however, you’re still getting solid results that are more than sufficient for sharing with your friends.

We haven't fully reviewed the Moto G 2026, but we have tested the Moto G 2025, which is essentially the same phone with a slightly smaller battery. For more details, check out our Moto G 2025 review.

Motorola isn't new to foldables, but it is new to book-style foldables similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series. The new Motorola Razr Fold takes what the company has learned from its smaller Razr flip phones and pours all that expertise into a very attractive and compelling book-style foldable. So much so that it even surprised us how good this phone is.

The Razr Fold sports a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and while it's a step below the Elite version of the chip, performance feels just as snappy, thanks to the 16GB of RAM. No matter which display you use or how many apps you have open, the Razr Fold doesn't falter. The same goes for battery life, which lasts all day long, thanks to the large 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.

But the cameras are perhaps the most important aspect. The Razr Fold has three impressive 50MP rear cameras that capture great images, even at 50x zoom (up to 100x!). Motorola isn't often synonymous with top-notch mobile photography, but the Razr Fold flips that script, and we're happy to see it.

Same chipset as predecessor

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is an interesting one. It's technically one of the most powerful flip phones on the market, but it doesn't move the needle a ton compared to its predecessor. It still uses the same (albeit powerful) Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 16GB of RAM, so it's still plenty capable, even if it's not using the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Camera quality has improved, with a new 50MP primary sensor that brings better dynamic range and better zoom quality. Motorola has also increased the battery capacity to 5,000mAh without increasing the phone's size or weight, which is an impressive feat.

There's a lot to like about the Razr Ultra 2026, but if you want a cheaper flagship flip phone or more color options, you might consider the Razr Ultra 2025, which has many of the same specs and features but one fewer year of security updates and two remaining OS updates.

More expensive

The Moto G Power 2026 manages to live up to its name pretty well, offering over a day of battery life while the MediaTek chip brings decent performance for the price point. The Moto G Power 2026 isn't too different from its predecessor, which isn't a bad thing, although it's not really a highlight either.

The camera is decent and should be good for everyday shots, while the tough yet bulky design should keep it relatively safe from drops, whether on the floor or in water. I'm also happy to see the Moto G Power light on bloatware, something that often plagues phones at this price point.

Speaking of price point, that might be a sore spot, as the price has gone up by $100 since my review was written, an unfortunate result of the RAM crisis. It's still affordable, but it might be worth looking at the Moto G Power 2025 if you're in the market for a cheap Android phone.

Reasons to avoid

-

-
Moto AI still requires plenty of cloud processing

Folding phones have typically been prohibitively expensive with overkill hardware and over-the-top designs. The Motorola Razr 2026 breaks that myth by being one of the best affordable flip phones to buy in the U.S. It comes in a sleek clamshell folding form factor with a large 6.9-inch internal display and brand-new Pantone colors.

The smartphone packs an improved Mediatek Dimensity 7450X chipset and a highly usable 3.6-inch outer display. The battery capacity of the Razr 2025 has been bumped up to 4,800mAh, which means you get more uptime between charges. As an entry model, it's refreshing to see Motorola give it an IP48 rating, making it as durable as the Razr Ultra 2026.

Despite the $100 price increase over the Razr 2025, we still think this is one of the best foldables you can buy for the money.

The Moto G Play 2026 doesn't do anything special besides being a generally good, cheap smartphone for under $250 (up from $180 at launch). This phone has a reasonably large screen at 6.7 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate, though the resolution is conservative. Still, it more than gets the job done and is one of the reasons for this phone's battery endurance. Another reason is the MediaTek SoC under the hood with 4GB of RAM.

The biggest reason for this phone's strong battery life is the large 5,200mAh battery with 18W wired charging. Wireless charging is absent from this phone, but that isn't surprising at this price. When it comes to software, the phone launched with Android 16, with Motorola promising two OS updates. With 5G support for the three major carriers, just about anyone can use it with their phone plan.

How to choose

The back of the olive green Motorola Edge 2026 with its metal camera island

(Image credit: Nicholas Sutrich / Android Central)

If you're looking at Motorola's phone lineup, especially the Moto G phones, it can be hard to tell them apart. Motorola's phones are split into three main categories: mid-tier devices like the Motorola Edge, the Razr folding phones, and the budget-oriented Moto G series. While the Moto Edge devices are good phones, if you're shopping for something high-end, you might find some of the other best Android phones to be a better value, especially if you're getting it from a carrier.

The Razr series is known for its striking designs and relatively affordable prices. The new Motorola Razr 2026, for example, is one of the best and most affordable folding phones you can get. Keep in mind that while past flip phones were known for durability, the same can't be said for folding flip phones like the Razr.

The internal screen is large and surprisingly high-quality, but it is soft and easily scratched, so it's more at home in an office than on the job site. Folding phones can also be more difficult and much more expensive to repair if you damage the screen.

The Moto G series is updated every year like clockwork, with the date following the name. Make sure you're picking the latest model available because, while Motorola has promised updates for most of its phones, it's so far been slow to deliver, and doesn't match up to the multiple OS updates offered by Google and Samsung.

Make sure your Moto G phone has the hardware features you need, like NFC for payments or fast charging, as these specs can vary. If you need fast charging, the Moto G Stylus 2026 supports up to 68W, while others can be significantly slower. While these phones can take some competent photos in decent lighting, if you're a prolific phone photographer, you'll be happy you spent a bit more on a higher-end Moto or even something like a Pixel A series phone.

The runner-up includes a stylus

Writing "Android Central" with the Moto G Stylus 2026 pen

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

Among the Motorola phones currently available, the Moto G Stylus 2026 is a great pick for those seeking precision input. It has solid specs, features, and price that are darn-near perfect given how affordable and good-looking the phone is, making it a clear winner in our eyes, particularly among other budget Android phones.

The sleek, elegant design paired with a built-in active stylus and useful gestures proves you don't need to spend a lot to get the premium Motorola experience. You also get Android 16 straight out of the box, alongside a big 5,200mAh battery and the very capable Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC. Did we mention that it also has a headphone jack and even goodies like wireless charging and NFC?

If you're looking for the best overall Motorola phone, the Motorola Edge 2026 still stands out with its powerful MediaTek chip, fast 60W charging, and solid camera system. The phone is only set to get two OS updates with three years of security updates, but if you are looking for a flagship phone from Motorola, we still believe the Edge 2026 is your best bet.
